Frequently Asked Questions
I know trying something new can bring up lots of questions. Here are some of the most common ones I hear about Reiki and Yin Yoga. If you don’t see your question answered here, please feel free to contact me — I’d love to help.
Reiki
What is Reiki?
Reiki is a gentle, non-invasive energy healing practice that promotes relaxation, stress reduction, and balance. It’s often described as “universal life energy” flowing through the hands of the practitioner to support the body’s natural healing processes.
What happens in a Reiki session?
You’ll remain fully clothed, resting comfortably on a massage table or yoga mat. I place my hands lightly on or just above your body in specific positions. Many people experience warmth, tingling, or simply a deep sense of calm.
Do I need to believe in Reiki for it to work?
No — Reiki does not depend on belief. Many clients come with an open mind or curiosity, and still notice a shift. The most common feedback I hear is that people leave feeling relaxed, lighter, and more centered.
Is Reiki safe?
Yes. Reiki is considered safe and complementary to medical or therapeutic care. It does not interfere with medications or treatments. Please continue all medical care and consult your healthcare provider with any medical concerns.
How should I prepare for my session?
Wear comfortable clothing and bring an open mind. You don’t need to do anything special. Some clients like to set an intention (for example, “I’d like to feel calmer” or “I’d like clarity about…”) but it’s not required.
How many sessions do I need?
This depends on your goals. Some people come once for relaxation, while others find a series of 3–6 sessions most helpful for deeper stress reduction and balance. We can decide together what rhythm feels right for you.
Yin & Restorative Yoga
What is Yin Yoga?
Yin Yoga is a slow, meditative style of yoga where postures are held for several minutes with the support of props. It targets the deep connective tissues, encourages stillness, and allows the nervous system to rest.
What’s the difference between Yin Yoga and Restorative Yoga?
Both are slow and supportive, but Yin gently stresses tissues to increase circulation and flexibility, while Restorative is purely about deep rest. Both pair beautifully with Reiki.
Can anyone practice Yin & Restorative Yoga?
Yes. Both Yin and Restorative Yoga are accessible for most people. I provide props and modifications so each posture can meet you exactly where you are. If you have an injury or special condition, simply let me know beforehand so I can guide you safely and comfortably.
How does Reiki enhance a Yin or Restorative Yoga practice?
While Yin Yoga opens the body and calms the mind through long, supported postures, Reiki adds an energetic layer of healing. During class I channel Reiki through light touch or hovering hands, helping you release tension more deeply and leave feeling balanced, grounded, and renewed.
General
Do you offer distance Reiki?
Yes. Reiki can be shared remotely, and many clients are surprised by how powerful it feels. Sessions are held over Zoom or phone with the same care and intention as in-person.
What should I do after a session?
Drink water, rest if you can, and pay attention to how you feel over the next day or two. Some people feel lighter right away, while others notice gradual shifts in mood, energy, or clarity.
How do I book a session?
Contact me to book an online here or complete my intake form. If you’re new, I suggest starting with a single 60-minute Reiki session or a Reiki + Yin Yoga class.
