If you're new to Reiki, you might be wondering what happens during a session and what you should expect. Reiki is a gentle, yet powerful energy healing practice that promotes relaxation, balance, and well-being. Whether you’re seeking emotional healing, stress relief, or energetic alignment, your first session is a beautiful step toward inner harmony.

Before Your Session

1. Setting Intentions

Before arriving, take a moment to reflect on why you’re seeking Reiki. Are you feeling stressed? Emotionally drained? Dealing with physical discomfort? While you don’t need to have a specific goal, setting an intention can help you get the most out of your session.

2. What to Wear

Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing. Reiki is a non-invasive practice, and you’ll remain fully clothed throughout the session. Soft fabrics can enhance relaxation.

3. Hydration & Openness

It’s helpful to drink water before your session and come with an open mind. Reiki works on an energetic level, and everyone experiences it differently—so be open to whatever unfolds.


During Your Reiki Session

1. The Atmosphere

Sessions take place in a quiet, peaceful space with soft lighting, calming music, and a serene ambiance. You may lie down on a massage table or sit comfortably in a chair, depending on what’s available and what works best for you.

2. Hands-On or Hands-Off Healing

Reiki can be practiced with light touch or hands hovering slightly above the body. As a Reiki Level 2 Practitioner, I work intuitively, placing my hands over energy centers (chakras) or areas that may need attention.

3. Sensations You May Experience

Everyone’s experience is unique, but common sensations include:

  • Warmth or tingling in certain areas

  • A feeling of deep relaxation or floating

  • Emotional release (you might feel a sense of peace or even tears)

  • Seeing colors or feeling energy shifts


If you don’t feel much, that’s okay too! Reiki energy works beyond physical sensations, and its benefits often become clearer over time.


After Your Reiki Session

1. Gentle Transition Back

After the session, I’ll give you time to slowly return to a grounded state. You may feel deeply relaxed, lighter, or more aware of your energy.

2. Hydration & Rest

Drink plenty of water and allow yourself space to integrate the healing. Some people feel energized, while others feel sleepy—both are normal!

3. Noticing Subtle Shifts

Reiki’s effects can unfold over hours or days. You might notice improved mood, mental clarity, or even physical relief. Pay attention to any changes, and trust that the healing continues beyond the session itself.
